Cathodic protection - Standard

A full revision of the European Standard on cathodic protection of steel in concrete has been adopted by the International Standards Organisation (ISO). Published as BS EN ISO 12696:2012 Cathodic protection of steel in concrete, this is a more comprehensive document than its predecessor, BS EN 12696:2000.

The new standard covers cathodic protection of steel in concrete that is atmospherically exposed, buried or submerged. It also covers galvanic cathodic protection as well as impressed current systems. As an ISO Standard it carries more weight internationally than the previous CEN version.

The standard is complemented by Concrete Society Technical Report No 73 Cathodic Protection of Steel in Concrete which includes a model specification and was published in August 2011.
