Sulfate resisting cement

The BS 4027 Sulfate-resisting Portland cement (SRPC) is now not available, however EN 197 has now introduced a Sulfate-resisting Portland cement designated as CEM I-SR 0 or 3. The availability, whether bulk or in bags, is not known.

Ready-mixed concrete suppliers are using combination cements, currently with fly-ash or ground granulated blastfurnace cement (ggbs) it is combined at the mixer with a Portland type cement and will have +SR at the end of the notation.

For the bagged market, factory produced cements incorporating fly ash or ggbs, that are suitable for sulfate conditions, are now available. The cement combination of these sulfate resisting cements (SRC) and will have the +SR broad notation.
