Ball penetration test (Kelly ball)

This is a simple field test to measure workability by determining the depth to which a 6 inch (150mm)diameter metal weight 30lb (~13.6kg) will sink under its own weight in to fresh concrete. It is a popular test in America but not now used in UK.
