Testing self compacting concrete: L-box test

The L-Box test to BS EN 12350-10 is used to assess the passing ability of self-compacting concrete to flow through tight obstructions without segregation or blocking.

·  Two (59 ± 1mm space) or three bar test 
   (41 ± 1mm space)
·  Fill hopper and strike surface
·  Stand for 60 ± 10sec
·  Open gate and wait for movement to stop
·  Passing ability ratio (PL) is depth at end of
   horizontal divided by depth vertical = H2/H1
