Testing self compacting concrete: V-funnel test

The V-funnel test to BS EN 12350-9 is used to assess the viscosity and filling ability of self-compacting concrete

- Fill funnel and strike surface
- After 10 ± 2sec open gate
- Time until can first see through gate (nearest 0.1sec)
- V-funnel flow time tv
- If not continuous – repeat
- If occurs twice concrete too viscous for test
