Concise Eurocode 2 for bridges

Part 2 of Eurocode 2 (BS EN 1992-2) sets out general rules for the design of concrete bridges. It necessarily covers a wide spectrum of structures and, therefore, may be seen as unduly complex for routine design work.

The aim of the Concrete Centre publication Concise Eurocode 2 for bridges is to distil the material from the relevant parts of BS EN 1992-2, and the UK National Annexes, that will be commonly used in the design of a typical bridge. The publication does not include all the design approaches given in the Code, but generally includes only the simplest and the most conservative methods. There will be cases where the reader may find that there will be benefits to be gained by using other methods which will require reference to the Code itself.

The document contains extensive clause referencing so that the reader is guided through the Eurocode, other relevant European Standards and non-contradictory complementary information. The publication includes design aids which will help the designer with the transition from the former British Standards to design using the Eurocode.
