Masts and poles (BS EN)
The requirements for precast masts or poles (either all of a piece or composed of separate elements) of reinforced or prestressed concrete are covered by:
BS EN 12843: Precast concrete products – Masts and poles.
The elements may be hollow or solid and may receive (or include) additional components, such as cross-arms or platforms, inserts and connectors. Applications include:
lighting, but not for lighting columns in traffic circulation areas
overhead electric lines
telecommunications lines
overhead electric lines for railways, trams and similar antenna
wind turbines.
