Standards for screeds, bases and in-situ floorings

The design of screeds, bases and in-situ flooring is covered by various parts of BS 8204, Screeds, bases and in-situ floorings as follows:
Part 1: Concrete bases and cement sand levelling screeds to receive floorings. Code of practice.
Part 2: Concrete wearing surfaces. Code of practice.
Part 3: Polymer modified cementitious screeds and wearing screeds. Code of practice.
Part 4: Cementitious terrazzo wearing surfaces. Code of practice.
Part 5: Mastic asphalt underlays and wearing surfaces. Code of practice.
Part 6: Synthetic resin floorings. Code of practice.
Part 7: Pumpable self-smoothing screeds. Code of practice.

European codes are in preparation (some published) to cover material properties etc. but as yet no application document(s).

BS EN 13892, Methods of test for screed materials, is divided into a number of parts. Those that have been issued are listed below:
Part 1: Sampling, making and curing specimens for test
Part 2: Determination of flexural and compressive strength
Part 3: Determination of wear resistance – Bohne
Part 4: Determination of wear resistance – BCA
Part 5: Determination of wear resistance to rolling wheel of screed material for wearing
Part 6: Determination of surface hardness
Part 7: Determination of wear resistance to rolling wheel of screed material with floor coverings
Part 8: Determination of bond strength.
