Dry-packed materials

BS 5838-1 Dry prepacked concrete - Specification:

The Standard specifies, for the do-it-yourself and retail trades, the materials to be used, the methods of describing the grades, the physical requirements packaging materials, identification of contents and testing for compliance.

The prepacked mixture consists of cement, aggregate and possibly an non-liquid admixture that requires only mixing with water before use.

BS EN 998 Specification for mortar for masonry:

Part 1: Rendering and plastering mortar
Part 2: Masonry mortar

BS 5838-2 Dry prepacked mortar consists of cement, sand and possibly a plasticiser that requires only mixing with water before use.

Mixing shall be carried out by mechanical mixer or following the steps listed in ´methods and mixing small quantities by hand´, see fingertip below.
