Various proprietary products are available for the removal of graffiti from concrete. These generally contain an alkali, a solvent and a detergent. The surface should be scrubbed with a brush and the product left in place for the time indicated by the manufacturer. The area should then be thoroughly rinsed with water.
It is often difficult to eliminate completely all traces of graffiti for concrete. In situations where it is likely to be a problem, the concrete should be treated with an anti-graffiti coating. Such coatings seal the surface of the concrete, preventing penetration of paint allowing any subsequent graffiti to be easily removed.
