Admixture standards

The British Standard for Admixtures BS 5075 has been replaced by six parts of BS EN 934 Admixtures for concrete, mortar and grout.

Part 1: 2008 Common requirements

Part 2: 2001 Concrete admixtures. Definition, requirements, conformity, marking and labelling.

Part 3: 2003 Admixtures for masonry mortar. Definition, requirements, conformity, marking and labelling.

Part 4: 2001 Admixtures for grout for prestressing tendons. Definition, requirements, conformity, marking and labelling.

Part 5: 2007 Admixtures for sprayed concrete. Definition, requirements, conformity, marking and labelling.

Part 6: 2001 Sampling, conformity control and evaluation of conformity

Not all admixture types are covered by EN 934. BS 8443:2005 Specification for establishing the suitability of special purpose concrete admixtures covers the following: underwater admixtures, shrinkage reducing admixtures, corrosion inhibiting admixtures, pumping aids, segregation reducing admixtures, foaming admixtures, semi-dry concrete admixtures.
