Reinforcing bar and fabric

The standards for reinforcing steel are:

BS 4482 Steel wire for the reinforcement of concrete products – Specification

BS 4483 Steel fabric for the reinforcement of concrete – Specification.

BS 4449 Steel for the reinforcement of concrete – weldable reinforcing steel – Bar, coil and decoiled product – Specification
(Note that BS 4449 was formerly Specification for carbon steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete)

BS 8666 Scheduling, dimensioning, bending and cutting of steel reinforcement for concrete. (Note that this replaced BS 4466 in 2000.)

BS 6744 Specification for austenitic stainless steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete.

Note that these Standards will, in due course, be replaced by BS EN 10080:2005, Steel for the reinforcement of concrete – Weldable reinforcing steel – General.
