There are many tests available to assess the hardened properties of concrete. The tests to determine major material properties are covered in National and International Standards, but many other tests have been developed to investigate specific parameters. Tests range from a simple compressive strength to electrochemical methods for assessing corrosion activity of the embedded reinforcement.
Guidance on various tests may be found in Concrete Society Technical Report 32, Analysis of hardened concrete: A guide to testing procedures and interpretation of results and Technical Report 71, Concrete petrography: An introductory guide for the non-specialist.
