Temporary precast concrete safety barriers, in accordance with Department of Transport requirements, are widely used to provide quick and safe protection of the workforce from passing traffic during work on busy roads.
Typical units are 3 metres long and up to 1.4 metres high; the ends of the units interlock to form a continuous barrier. The cross-section is basically rectangular. Sloped units are available for the ends of barriers and for the transition between units of different heights.
Precast units may also be used to form permanent safety barriers, to protect abutments and bridge columns and for other applications.
