Precast retaining walls
A range of options for retaining walls exist in precast concrete, including full height sections complete with supporting base, reinforced earth panels, and ‘criblock’ type systems utilising small elements that can be easily manhandled on site.
Appropriate guidance is given in the design Eurocodes Eurocode 2; Part 1-1 covers buildings and Part 3 covers Liquid retaining and containing structures. These parts of Eurocode 2 have replaced BS 8110, and BS 8007.
Precast concrete safety barriers, either temporary or permanent, are increasingly being used on motorways and major roads.
