Deterioration by abrasion
Abrasion can lead to the wearing away of surface concrete. In an extreme case this could lead to an unacceptable loss of section and require careful replacement to restore structural integrity. In some cases, particularly with industrial floors, loss of surface material may mean that the required surface tolerances are lost.
To bring the surface back into an acceptable operating tolerance the surface may be ground or a new surface layer applied.
