Building applications

A wide range of structural possibilities is provided by load bearing concrete masonry. Concrete bricks and blocks are available in a wide range of compressive strengths to suit all applications. Manufacturers produce a range of standardised door and window lintels in prestressed or reinforced precast concrete for different opening widths.

All concrete blocks are suitable for external work that is to have a finish applied to it. Some types can be painted or left as laid depending on the application. Facing and coloured blocks are generally available in the aggregate range of blocks.

‘Cast stone’ (a concrete with fine, carefully selected aggregates) is used to simulate natural stone for items such as lintels, sills, mullions, coping and string course units.
