Cracks at joints

Cracks that may form at construction joints. Cold joints and construction joints are potential sources of weakness in any structure. There will be a tendency for a crack to form at the interface between pours. due to differential thermal movements or shrinkage. The crack may allow the passage of water to the interior of the concrete. leading to long-term durability problems.

Further information on the avoidance of this type of cracking may be found in Construction.
