Joints and connections

It is often impossible to pour large areas (or volumes) of concrete without interruption hence construction joints are required. Movement joints may be required to accommodate movements in the young concrete or in the completed structure. Where precast units are used, connections will be required, either between adjacent units or between precast units and in situ concrete.
