Bridges and concrete.

Concrete is used for all the component parts of bridges, that is the foundations, abutments and retaining walls, piers, main beams, deck slab. (Steel may be the preferred option for the main beams of longer span bridges and for the piers, beams and slabs of very long bridges.) Various forms of construction are used, often incorporating standard precast beams.
