Polymers in concrete

Polymers are chemicals which can be added to concrete like an admixture, and undergo a reaction which changes them into long chain polymer molecules in the concrete. Most proprietary repair mortars contain polymers.

Polymers may:

Improve the adhesion of a concrete to a surface
Improve the tensile behaviour, if added in relatively large concentrations.
