Prefabricated reinforcement

Prefabricated reinforcement is available from some suppliers. This may be in the form of standard cages, for example for columns or ground beams, or made to order. This also includes reinforcing bar that can be rolled out like a carpet.

In addition various types of proprietary shear reinforcement for slabs are available, that remove the need to fix large numbers of shear links around columns. A series of prefabricated links may be welded to longitudinal reinforcing bars to form ´ladders´, which can be fixed easily with the normal reinforcement. The ´ladder´ will generally sit on the bottom mat of reinforcement and will serve as a support for the top layers.
