Reinforcing bars
Reinforcing bars are supplied in two strength grades, 250 N/mm2 and 460 N/mm2, mild steel and high yield steel respectively. Standard diameters are 6 (mild steel only), 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm, though not all diameters are available as stock items. Bars are normally supplied in 12 m lengths though longer lengths are available by special arrangement.
Generally reinforcing bars will be supplied to site cut and bent to the required shapes in accordance with BS 8666 Scheduling, dimensioning, bending and cutting of steel reinforcement for concrete. (Note that this Standard replaced BS 4466 in 2000.)
